Biography
I began playing the drums at age twelve, and a chronology of my drumming influences since that time, which have for the most part coincided with my musical and personal development, includes Peter Criss, Mitch Mitchell, Neil Peart, John Bonham, Bill Bruford, Elvin Jones and Max Roach. I studied music at the Berklee College of Music and also pursued private percussion instruction with Anthony Miranda. As a rock drummer, I performed predominantly with the groups Anthem and Wunderland, playing the regional club circuit in Buffalo, NY, opening for numerous national acts and drumming for a theatre production of the Who’s rock opera, Tommy. I have served as an occasional member of the Jamie Kubala Percussion Ensemble, performing in improvisational “free jazz” happenings, as well as at gallery openings and street festivals. While employed at the Community Music School in Buffalo, NY, I was a founding member of the School’s jazz ensemble. I have also led a jazz trio and held down the drum chair during rehearsals for the Carol McLaughlin Big Band. My most recent music projects include drumming for two singer-songwriters in the Boston area, Kate Sullivan and Garrett. When not playing the drums, I spend my time hanging out by the ocean with my wife and daughter, mountain biking, kayaking and working as an attorney.
